Frankfurt High-End 2001

We here at Enjoy the Music.com™ would like to  give special recognition to various products and rooms that showcase the  upper stratosphere of the audio art. This is not to say that only  expensive gear need apply. Far from it! We will especially give  acknowledgment for high value, low cost equipment as well. Only the truly  superior within their field need apply. Each day during the show this page  will be updated with those products and rooms we found worthy. And the  winners are:

The Bella Luna loudspeaker by Duevel loudspeakers with vinyl replay and other upstream  gear won, hands down, the best sound of the show for  Friday. The system also included, specifically, the Pluto Audio 12A  turntable, 5A Prestige tonearm and Pluto One cartridge. The Blue Amp phono  stage fed Kilmo's Merlin pre-amplifier and then to Klimo's Beltaine five-watt  single-ended amplifier.

Recording company Tacet Audio provided the best multichannel demonstration we heard with their  original DVD-A recordings. The German company has four releases to date with  an impressive release schedule of one disc per month beginning in September.  The tracks we heard were recorded in several different arrangements;  instruments were placed in front of the listener for a traditional soundstage  with added ambience, and all around the room to simulate a relaxed atmosphere  with musicians in various locations. This was no contrived surround  demonstration as we have heard many times at shows. The music was natural and  appropriate, as it was purpose-recorded for five-channel audio. Each disc  contains both DVD-A as well as standard Dolby Digital 5.1 for those who do  not have DVD-A players. Above, Roland Kistner (left) and Andreas Spreer  proudly hold two of their releases.

Aus der Masse herausragende Vorführungen, ganz subjektiv und nicht  vollständig:
Die Kette von Pluto / Blue Amp / Klimo / Duevel.
Die Dynavox-Lautsprecher bei Music Connection.
Acoustic Solid und SME 10 mit Consequence-Röhren und Lowther-Hörnern bei  opera audio.
Die Audio Note-Kette (Voigt Audiosysteme).
Sehr schwer, die Auswahl zu treffen, viele analoge Vorführungen waren auch  gut.

Auch wenn das  derzeitige Lautsprecherprinzip immer irgendwie an  Dampfmaschinen erinnert, gibt es auch heute noch Hersteller,  die sich nicht genötigt fühlen ausgetretene Pfade zu  beschreiten.
Die Bella Luna ist dafür ein gutes Beispiel. Auf  der HighEnd 2001 wurde eine Kette mit diesem  Lautsprecher von enjoy the music als  der beste Klang der Messe deklariert.

Expozice sestavená z reproduktorových soustav Duevel Bella Luna (32kg, 91dB, 40Hz-20kHz) , zesilova o D.Klimo Merlin a  jedno inného Beltaine, gramofonu a raménka Pluto Audio (12A, 5A Prestige,  One) s pYenoskovým zesilova em Blue Amp byla pro mne jedním  z nejv tších pYekvapeních výstavy. Velmi speciální obrácený  horn, kdy zvuk „te e“ po talíYi (zeshora výškový m ni ,  zespoda basy/stYedy) spolu s celkovým provedením soustav  vytváYí pYekvapivý vizuální i zvukový dojem. Tak realisticky  detailní zvuk, alespoH pYi analogové komorní produkci jsem naprosto  ne ekal. Tady chápu radostné slzy v o ích vyznava o  nízkovýkonového jedno inného lampového zesílení!

The Bella  Luna loudspeaker by Duevel reminds of a miniature version of  Platinum Audio's Air Pulse 3.1... This special pair with acrylic is a one-off  model... i was asked not to consider the added cost in this special unit.  This room, without a doubt, had the best sound of the show so far.
